Cannot set allocations error upon open.

Post by JcTcom »

Ever since I installed the latest version (EssentialPIM Pro 12.1.3 (Build 1030) I receive an error upon opening the program "Cannot Set Allocations" with the only option being to click "OK".

After clicking "OK" the app opens but I don't think it is connecting to the firebird server?

Not sure though how to tell if has connected to the firebird server?

Is this the Business edition? In any case, please try running the app as an administrator and let us know if that resolves the issue.

I tried running as Administrator. Same error comes up.

Is there a difference between the "Pro" version and the "Business" edition?

My Receipt says "EssentialPIM Pro" and the same with "Lifetime Updates".

So I guess it would be the Pro version (If there is a difference?).

Thanks, I'll get back to you about the issue once we analyze it.

As for the difference between the regular Pro and Pro Business versions, the Business edition includes advanced networking capabilities designed for workgroups.

BTW which previous version of EPIM were you using before upgrading to EPIM 12.1.3 (1030)? Did the issue not occur in that version?

I'm having the same issue here with Lifetime Pro version and Windows 10 startup. No such error before the upgrade. If I close the application entirely and run as adminstrator no such error message.

I generally update within a few days of getting the update notification if not immediately. So whichever version was current before this update.

No I was not getting this error until after I performed the update.

Also I still am not sure if my EssentialPIM is currently connecting vie firebird or not. How can I tell this?

jim999, what is the EPIM build number?

JcTcom, could you please check if the 1031 Build makes any difference in your case? You can download it from this link: https://www.essentialpim.com/download/t ... ull121.exe.

As for the Firebird question, could you please provide more context? Specifically, are you connecting to your database via LAN?

Hello. The 1031 build seems to have resolved the issue. Though I did go through the extra steps of going into task manager and end Tasking the EssentialPIM Pro app and also into the Services and stopping the Firebird services as I find that the install of EssentialPIM seems to get hung up on this sometimes. But after that & installing the 1031 build no more error(s) upon opening the program.

As far as Firebird goes I use the program mostly locally on the one computer. But I do have 2 others that I use occasionally and so wanted the database to be using the Firebird server. I haven't had time to test yet though on the other 2 computers. But I thought that in order for the Firebird database to work that all computers needed to be using it including the local install one?

Ok, good to hear there's no error anymore.

For guidance on setting up and working with the same database file within a LAN, please refer to the following section in the help file: https://www.essentialpim.com/help/

Sorry to say, but the error - at least for me - is still existing in 12.1.3 build 1032. I get this error on nearly every start.

Hello,

I also get this error when I open EPIM during the Windows startup process. If I wait one or two minutes before opening EPIM, the error message does not occur.

If the autostart option of EPIM is activated, it should be deactivated.

For those still experiencing the issue - are you using the Pro version of EssentialPIM? And we'll also need the build number. Thanks!
