Auto-Arrange Columns right click option?

Using EssentialPIM Pro (12.0.6 build 1003)

I find myself forever arranging columns in pretty much every section of every module. I have set most of my e-mail folders to save the column settings to all sub folders (With the right click on columns option), but there does not seem to be such an option for Contacts, Tasks, Agenda, Calendar or any of the other sections and sub sections. (At least not that I can find).

Can we please get an option to "Auto-size" columns with a right click on the column headers? This would not be ideal for all modules / sections but it would go a long way to help for most of them.

Just to clarify, are you suggesting that there should be an "auto-size" option for columns in all modules, or are you asking for the "apply columns to" feature to be made available in other modules as well (if so, which ones)? Or perhaps you're suggesting both?

The orientation of the columns could well be simplified. If I look at various other software, for example a double click between the columns could align them to optimal width of the content (Auto-Size) or you could enter a size manually with a right click.

I could also imagine templates that you can also export and import. I use a lot of tasks/lists and most of them have the same layout - here the "apply columns to" feature has saved me hours, but I can't back it up permanently or - in the Pro version - SIMPLY use it at other workstations.

In general, about the modules: The more consistent an existing feature is in all modules, the better.

Definitely looking for "Auto-Size" in all sections of all modules. But having the apply to in other modules would also be good.

aurio, the optimal column width feature has been available for some time, please give it a try. Regarding your second suggestion, in the upcoming version of EPIM 12.1, you will have the ability to save the availability, width, order, and sorting options for the columns in the customized view templates.

I am not sure I understand this. Are you saying there is already some sort of Auto-Size option built into EssentialPIM? If so please let us know how to access it.

Please refer to the small video attached to my post. If you double-click on the column separator line, it will automatically resize the column to fit the longest entry.

This is OK. But it would be much better to have a "Right Click" option to resize all columns at once. Having to do them one by one is basically the same as dragging the column dividing lines over one by one. Plus on a large screen (I work on a 65" screen most of the time), with small text it is not easy to get the mouse point to line up exactly on each vertical dividing line.

Understood. In this case, an auto-size option would be more beneficial. As once enabled, you wouldn't need to right-click on the columns each time you need to resize them, this would happen automatically based on the current width of the EPIM main window.

Auto-size option would be great. But we would need the ability to set limits on certain columns. Otherwise columns like “Subject” in emails would take over the screen.

It wouldn’t. Once the preferred column widths are set, they will be made proportionally narrower if the window size decreases. If the window size increases from the set point, only the rightmost column will expand in size. On that note, I believe this behavior could potentially be made the default, eliminating the need for an additional option.
