Follow up feature...

Post by bobmac1547 »

:? Color me stupid, but I cannot figure out how to create a followup in tasks. (I don't use EPIM email at this time.)
I see the column n my task list (tree view) but even right clicking on it doesn't get me anywhere. And when I open the task create/edit window, I don't see anything there regarding followups.

I don't see anything to enable in Tools > Options, either.

Can someone clue me in????? :?:

Thanks...

Follow up tasks can only be created from emails. Could you please elaborate more as to how/why you'd like to use the feature separately in the tasks module, as well?

Sometimes when I clear a task (like make a phone call), I need to follow up in a week or so. It would be very convenient to be able to schedule that follow up directly from the task especially if it's linked to a contact. Does that make sense? I can explain more if it's necessary.

There are many other situations where I need to create follow-ups. There are too many to mention here but I can make more detail if you want.

Thanks, so you'd like to have an option to create a new follow up task from the existing one so that it inherits all the original task properties (except for dates, maybe)?

Yes, indeed! I just used the followup feature in email for the first time and saw that it created a task. WOW! That's terrific. :D Yes, that should be available for tasks. Currently, I have to create a new task and repeat a lot of details. Followup would make it MUCH easier!!!

Thanks!

Okay, thanks very much for the suggestion. As for now you can use a workaround - copy-paste the task, then open the created copy and change just what's needed.

Yup. Your workaround is what I've been doing. That's why I eventually made the suggestion.
Thanks...
