Data of encrypted database is unencrypted in sync log

Post by kdgdr »

Hi,

On request of admin for another Forum topic, I updated from WEPIM 10.2.1 to WEPIM 11.0.4
!!! Now I notice that in WEPIM 11.0.4 the Sync Logs show data of notes, appointments, ... unencrypted, while the .epim database is encrypted !!!
This seems to be a security risk, imo.
If I remember correctly all data from the same .epim database was encrypted in WEPIM 10.2.1 Sync Logs.

There's no point in encrypted log files as we will not be able to decrypt them to get to the source of the problem (if there's any). You can disable logging in options.

Hi,

I was wrong: data was unencrypted in WEPIM 10.2.1 Sync Logs as well.
This comes as a bit of a surprise to me, so I have some questions:
  1. If logging is on, does this unencrypted data in the logs only exist on computer or also on AEPIM side?
  2. If logging is turned off in WEPIM, is any unencrypted data available anywhere (WEPIM or AEPIM)?
  3. I assume that all data in the passwords module is never available unencrypted anywhere, no matter what settings are used. Is that correct?
