Re: EPIM - Dropbox error

Post by outlinerone »

Moved the database from Dropbox to a local USB stick.
Now get error messages once a day where I have to close the database.
Today, when trying to open got the error message that it is not a valid database...
Have Pro 11, beta 3. Can't open it, so can't delete any sensitive information to send to you.
I can open the backup file stored on my hard drive.
Does EPIM have some issues with working from a USB stick?
Any suggestions?

You write that you now use EPIM11 Pro beta3, is that the portable or desktop version? And what is your operating system? That might help the developers.

Like you I am also a longtime user and therefore have to guess about the printscreens. If you have a portable version of EPIM11 you can try a fresh clean install, or did you do that for testing?
What concerns your remark on issues working with an USB-stick, I can tell you it should work. I use the portable version of EPIM for years and have my databases on a USB-stick. Works fine no problems.

Actually, was the Desktop version which was running on the desktop but accessing the database on the USB.
Is an older desktop running Windows 7.
Did a clean install of Portable version and now it says the file is not a valid database. Same goes when trying to open with Desktop version.
It shouldn't matter really where the database is located which impacts EPIM being able to run properly. Was able to thankfully open the backup I had stored on local hard drive.

I agree it shouldn't matter.
I have the portable version so that I can use my own EPIM-version at work. So that I have my own agenda, notes etc. at hand. But I know there are other users that have/had their databases on a external drive or USB and it worked.
Also I have used Windows 7 with EPIM on a USB-stick until Windows11 came out and Windows7 with EPIM on USB gave no problems.

Hopefully Admin can help you and I hope he knows how to interpret the errors in your print-screens.

The errors are much too common. Within 5 minutes just got another one when inserting Date into an EPIM note.
