Re: customize color and a simple circle for the today
hi
calendar -> month
today is 24 and the screenshot show the today colore is blue and a blue bar
would be really helpful customize the colors ,think about a color-blind user .... or for example red(or another color) could for some users better then blue ,just to focus the today
and maybe a circle would be even better
thanks

Re: customize color and a simple circle for the today
+1
I use the color "red" in the calendar for events that need to stand out against all other colors (I use "red" sparingly). I would prefer if I could make today's cursor "red" as well - to make it stand out. So, if today's cursor could be made a user defined color, that would be great!

I hope the EssentialPIM Team gets to this post.
I like it very much how the month view of the software is which "Giulia" posted above.
I like the bigger day number as by EPIM, the blue circle around the today, the category point before the schedule, the schedule time behind the schedule.
Better the schedule name before the time as it's a better overview.
It's all very practical.
Could you please make it this way!
Thanks in advance!

+1. The current "today" indication does get very confusing if one jumps around the month views a lot. This would be cured by a user option color for a new "blue" circle around today's day of the month, as described previously.AJ wrote: Fri Aug 30, 2019 1:14 am I hope the EssentialPIM Team gets to this post.

I mean a white day number on blue filled circle, as on the screenshot that is much better visable as only a circle around the day. Do you mean the same as me?ecsaltz wrote: Fri Aug 30, 2019 1:42 am+1. The current "today" indication does get very confusing if one jumps around the month views a lot. Absolutely yes. I wanted to post it also.ecsaltz wrote: Fri Aug 30, 2019 1:42 am

Lately, I got into little business troubles because of this. In a hurry, I took a look at the wrong week in a month view, because the current day is barely marked.
It should not be red, though, or if so, dark red.
But, above all, the edges of the 'today' should be thrice thicker or something.

I agree as well. The colored circle around the day number would be a much better way to denote the current date. I find the current method confusing as well...but I prefer bright RED.

Re: customize color and a simple circle for the today
Admin, thanks for that. The main thing is:
when a user (in a hurry, business...) takes a look at the month (or yearly, or weekly) view, needs to see at once where 'today' is. One cannot search for it, even for 0.5 sec.
This is a technical issue for devs: your eyes are used to 'taking the effort' to find something, and this is countereffective. 'Today' has to be noticeable without taking an effort.
How you make it, is of a secondary importance.
My suggestion is to thicken the edges at least thrice if not more.

Re: customize color and a simple circle for the today
Also, as I am a speaker of the morning, as presented above, the colours of 'a marked day' and 'today' are too similar. Messing up a bit.
Also2, please note, that, contrary to some above suggestion, using bright reds shadows is never recommended as default. There are number of reasons, but if you want to skip the arguments, see what big tech did, they use researches for that, kind of 'what you see first', 'which one is the most disturbing', and more detailed stuff, or even evaluating the eye-balls movements. And you guys, can easily, without a breach of law, make use of it.

This could not happen fast enough for me. I am doing a lot of long term scheduling on the month and year calendar views right now for next year. I make heavy use of multiple categories, that means I am looking at a mosaic of color on my PM monitor. To find "Today" highlighted is frustrating most of the time. Whatever can be done to make "Today" stand out and scream "Here I am!" will be most appreciated. In particular, I do a lot of planning from "Today" out into the future.
Heck, maybe "Today" should be flashing at a slow rate to get fast attention, at least, could be an option settable in speed and changing color - that would draw attention fast - but I think this concept might need more thought and input from others.
Just thinking out loud here, if one accepts the concept of a flashing date, maybe additional dates could be optionally set "flashing" as well, sort of like time line markers, sort of like milestones.
IMHO, the flashing date concept would help bring time line clarity faster to the whole calendar picture.
There is one major issue, which I do not have an immediate answer for: How does flashing dates translate to printing out the calendar? However, even if that is not solved right away, using the PC monitor for complicated scheduling management would benefit from date flashing.

In how many PIMs have you seen flashing day in monthly views?
Just wondering.
