Re: EssentialPIM 8.5 Release Candidate 2 is ready
Dear Brituri, I agree with you 100%. The only way that I succeeded was by opening 8.5 and creating a new database and syncing my contacts and events from my android phone to it. Nothing else I tried worked.

Transferring data from 8.15 to 8.5 is generally automatic, you do not need to do anything except installing the new version and starting it. It should pickup the database.
However, if you were using Release candidate, after installing 8.5 you just need to use File-> Open and navigate to your database.

I'm using the latest final release. No Problems opending my 8.15 Database on the 8.5. Opened without an error or something else.
I didn't use the RC.

Re: EssentialPIM 8.5 Release Candidate 2 is ready
EPIM 8.5 newest "silent update" from today; EPIM Synchronizer, latest version (8.5)- Windows 8.1
I have the problem with my db, "work offline" is saved in the db (see another thread here). Therefore I tried to synchronize an new, empty db with synchronizer. (I had no trouble in opening dbfrom 8.15 in 8.5).
Result: EPIM synchronizer successful removes the "offline" mode! very fine.
BUT: 1) Now, internal links to database items no longer work! The open an empty window. Perhaps the synchronizer is not updated to the latest version? In the version 8.5 (EPIM) before the update links didn´t work, with the silent update the work!
2) MUCH, VERY MUCH, CATASTROPHIC SEVERE: Synchronizer is deleting items in the original db!! I definitly clicked on >> (not sync- but even if I had- one is an empty db). Now some of the pictures and formating is missing in my original db! Very strange, only some pictures and formats, the rest is correct. I compared the the data in "file/db management" - the notes section shows less MB than the original db.
This is defenitly not allowed to happen!! You have to rely on programs, regarding data integrity!!!
Of course, I worked with a copy.... I know EPIM

Re: EssentialPIM 8.5 Release Candidate 2 is ready
Admin, sorry, but this is not true. Your software does note make 'convert' files for all used/converted databases.
We use four of them, since the last update to 8.5 only ONE has this 'convert' version. And btw, this is an empty database, created and used only to open another instance. For work we use three DB and none of them has 'convert' version.
For the sake of clarity, this is not the first time.
You had already asked me maybe a year ago for this 'convert' file, and there had been none.
I use a fantastic search software, which never makes mistakes, and it says 'no results'.

Trinitylab, sorry but this is true. Whenever a database file gets converted into a new version, a backup file is always created. If you wish to continue with this conversation, create a new topic as this discussion is offtopic in this thread.

Re: EssentialPIM 8.5 Release Candidate 2 is ready
EPIM 8.52, portable pro:
"Size of the Notes module will now be correctly calculated in Database Management"
"Switching in between Offline/Online modes works correctly for encrypted databases"
This both works now- great! Now I´m not asked for switching to online every time I want to get emails after EPIM start!
The only thing, you can´t get controll off, is synchronization. From the beginning of the first version with syncing-capabilities on.
I set sychronizing to "on Program start" (and that means ONLY on program start)....... but this is working not correct. Every time my computer goes to energy saving mode (sleep) after waking up, synchronization starts again. It seems, that optimizing of database and/or setting a new appointment triggers synchronization too..... but this I don´t know for sure. Fact is, I want to shut down my computer, first shut down EPIM....... but that does not work at the moment, because synchronization is running. Even STOP (synchronization) is working..... very slow, if at all. Synchronization is very stubborn, hard to switch off. So, from time to time I had to kill EPIM with task manager- only because I want to shutdown my computer.
But this is not really a problem for me- Now I switched aumtomatic synchronization off, I will do it manually. Moreover, synchronization has no high priority for me, I backup my database regularly to an usb- device. I have MUCH more confidence in backing up to a hardware device than to syncing. Read the forum, and you know why.....
For me, this version is PERFEKT! Thank you!

Re: EssentialPIM 8.5 Release Candidate 2 is ready
For me, what was annoying since the previous update, is shortcuts bug.
This 8.52 announces this to be fixed, but it doesn't.
Calendar > create Appt > in Appt small note RAlt+c should give ć, and always did. Now it switches completion to 100% off and on.

It should be working. If not, try to replace the Polish language file from here: https://www.essentialpim.com/forum/view ... 47#p106347.

Re: EssentialPIM 8.5 Release Candidate 2 is ready
Switching to the PL interface is not acceptable for me, I work with English UIs AND I need Polish "ć" pretty often.
Do I have to choose between RAlt+c="ć" or RAlt+c="task completed"?
-- M.

Re: EssentialPIM 8.5 Release Candidate 2 is ready
Hi Guys,
Sorry to say, I have just checked:
you have made THREE shortcuts to do one thing, and you eliminated one shortcut for the letter.
Completion of event: CtrlAltC, LAltC, RAltC.
There is a mess, users complain, no needed change. Why? Just please leave RAltC, as it was for years. Those who want to use the shortcut for completion, still have two other to choose from.
