Adding Company & Employees

Post by drslim »

Hi, I am new to EssentialPim but previously used MaxiMixer CRM.
What is the best way to set up a Company and its employees in EssentialPim ?
Do I Create a Group and call it the company name eg "Paper Supplies Plus" and then add the employees as Contacts in this Group?

Is there a better way?

Thanks

Hi,
it always depends what your goal is.

This is my way:
You can create "Groups" within your Adressbook. You can assign employees to the groups and sub-groups.This is one way to sort them.
You're also able to assign them to multiple groups and sub-groups.

please have in mind:
if you move a person to a sub-group, it is going to disappear in the group above. But all Contacts are visible in the main root directory.
To set the person visible it must be assigned to the group of the company, and the sub-group of it. (also if you have group - subgroup - subsubgroup)

Hi,
Thanks for the response. Thats what I thought.
The only problem is that when you Add to contacts a new email address, unless the Membership Group has already been created, they cant be added to a new Group.

mmh, it's no problem?
1. I create a contact. I fill in some data.
2. then i assign this contact to a sub-sub-group
3. then i add an e-mail adresse to the contact
4. then i assign the contact to a diffrent sub-group
--> no problems
5. i also created a new group.. also no problems

Not quite.
If you just drag'n'drop a contact (a person), yes, it moves from one group to another. Which is by the way a great improvement since some time. So vanishes in one group, appears in the other.
But if you drag'n'drop with Ctrl pressed, then you just copy the assignment, ie. a person is visible in both groups, source and target.
The only weak point here is that a cursor does not change into the one with +, to indicate like in Windows that we copy something.
