Bug 7.66: Passwords > group name is doubled

Post by Trinitylab »

Hi,

The latest EPIM 7.66, Win 8.1 x64

See this, and I will explain what happened:

Passwords module
1. I was creating a group;
2. named it Steinberg;
3. right away after typing a name, with a cursor in group's name, I wanted to close the window, just by pressing Enter;
4. didn't work;
5. so I tried Ctrl+Enter, which typically works for closing any window in EPIM,
6. didn't work;
7. so I had to use a mouse, and press OK.
So far, this lack of the previous option to close such a window via a keyboard seems a bug.

But why then I had these two names of the group, as in the screensave?
Well, it appeared that this field for group's name (during creating or renaming a group) works just as a regular text/paragraph field! Ie. when I typed a name, and I pressed Ctrl+Enter to name+close the window, I just entered a new line in this "one-liner" field. But I did not close the window. I was still in the field, seemed empty.
Here is the procedure:
after point 5. the name field was blank, even if a second ago there was a name there.
Or, as it appeared, it seemed to be blank. This was simply just a second line to write into it, but only looked like Ctrl+Enter cleaned the field.
So I typed the name once again. And then pressed OK via a mouse.
Finally, got the name of the group SteinbergSteinberg.
And when I wanted to edit the name, in the field I saw only one Steinberg.
It took some time to realize that beneath, there was another line with another Steinberg. So I had to act as I was to delete everything after the first Steinberg. It worked.
Now I have one Steinberg, but discovered this above: one-liner is actually a multi-liner.
Seems complex, I know. :)))

Hello,

thank you for the description.
Could you maybe make a video of the issue?

Max, that would be too troublesome, as I have the number of the names of the websites I keep the passwords.

Simple steps, reproduce precisely:
1. click "My passwords", ie. root folder in Passwords Module;
2. RMB on it, Add Group, the small window pops up named "Group Info";
3. the cursor is in the first line: start typing, name it "Test1", do not do anything, leave the cursor where it is, right after the last character;
4. now press Ctrl+Enter;
5. you see the blank field: start typing, say 2222,
6. after the last "2" press Ctrl+Enter;
7. you see the blank field, start typing 3333,
8. after the last "3" press Ctrl+Enter,
9. again you are in a blank field,
NOW,
10. with the cursor blinking in the last blank field, press left arrow on the keyboard once, exactly like you would like to go back one character,
11. you should see now "3333", as you are in the previous line,
12. the cursor should be at the end of this line,
13. press the right arrow once to move forward to the last blank field;
14. press Backspace;
15. you should be now again at the end of "3333" field,
16. now start using Backspace pressing once at a time,
17. you will be gradually deleting 3333, and moving to the line up, ie. 2222,
18. keep deleting with the Backspace until you reach the beginning.

Simply saying, in 7.66 Passwords module, during naming a group, pressing Ctrl+Enter does not confirm the decision, as it used to be. It creates the line below the just typed name.

Thank you, will look into this. I checked on 7.52- the behaviour is same as you described above- thus unclear when this issue appeared.

I also do not know, Max. What I know for sure, always simple Enter in the field name worked as the confirmation.
And it does in Notes module, for example, when you name a Note, what you need to confirm, is just to press Enter.
So would be great to restore this functionality, the less clicks the better. :)
