I posted before in a different thread, but it has not been picked up nor replied to so it might be better to make it a fresh post after all
For quite a while I am having issues with the FireBird service that blocks or stops a couple of times a day
I need to stop the firebird service on the server (if it did not stop from itself)
Here is what I find in the firebird logs
Code: Select all
ARIEIRO (Server) Mon Sep 28 06:03:22 2015
*** DUMP ***
ARIEIRO (Server) Mon Sep 28 06:03:22 2015
Fatal exception during clumplet dump: Invalid clumplet buffer structure: spb in service attach should begin with isc_spb_version1 or isc_spb_version
ARIEIRO (Server) Mon Sep 28 06:03:22 2015
Plain dump starting with offset 864: BNNpSKTEjsKsdvfLbJtHUAFqsJUvHcRReqKsEvagwsbL
ARIEIRO (Server) Mon Sep 28 06:03:25 2015
INET/inet_error: read errno = 10054
Browsing the Firebird fora, I find all sorts of advice: Don't use the guardian on wiondows. Do use the guardian on windows
The server is a win2003 machine (not likely to change soon), 32 bit. The firebird version is 2.1
Adviec I do seem to find a lot is to backup and update to the latest firebird 2.5.4
but I am a bit reluctant given that the cause could be an inconsistency in the DB
upgrading wil likely either solve the issue or kill the DB
So,
- can I safely upgrade firebird to 2.5.4 32 bit on a win
- should I install classic, superclassic or classic?
- should I use guardian?
- how can I backup the data before I upgrade?
Thanks
Geert
