Add Google Sync

Post by Doubleb »

Help! I am running Essential Portable Pro 6.02 and Windows 8.1. I cannot add a snycronization with google. I get to the code input box, input the code for the private webpage and then get an "Invalid Code" error.

Please make sure you are signed into correct Google account when you received the code.
Try to start the process again.

HI, I have exact same issue. Repeat attempts do not solve the problem.
OK - so I have just set the synch to be contacts only.
I get Connection closed. Gracefully.
What does that mean???

Please make error messages meaningful.

Any advice appreciated.

Try using a new database for a test.
"Connection closed gracefully" essentially means that EPIm can not reach the target server for any reason (can be firewall, proxy, etc)

Thanks Max,
Tried a completely new database - two way sync to Google.
Exact same message.
Adding Google Calender Code fails every time too.
Windows fire wall is permissioned for EPIM.
I run Avast Free AV - but with shields turned off - same result - no connection
Win8.1 64, EPIM Pro Portable.

Well there is not much we can do about this error. I would say in 99% it means EssentialPIM is not let to connect to Google servers, and the reason for this is users Firewall, WiFi router or maybe provider or proxy.

Max, your reply gives me some ideas. I do have a new router so will look into this and report back.
It is entirely possible that is the problem.
So the info I need is what do I set on a router to let EPIM pass?
e.g. what communication ports does EPIM use?
Cheers

FYI. I have solved the problem. I had set up a proxy within EPIM so all mail goes through gmail. When I turned of the proxy, synch worked fine in all categories.
So for me - the problem is solved. Thanks to Max and others for their comments as it all helped.
Cheers - Paul
