ics question

Post by Jon »

I have exported a list of tasks from ToDoList in ics format. I cannot import this file into the EPIM 5.5.7 to do list. The process always ends with a report that zero records have been added. The date range for the import is correct. However, this file seems to import correctly in the EPIM calendar module.

Why is this and what am I doing wrong?

Thank you.

Is "ToDoList" the name of the application? We need to see the ics you are trying to import.

Yes, that is the name of the program. Where shall I email the ics? As I said, it imports to the calendar module, but fails wen trying to import to the ToDo module.

By the way, why do you not have the option to import/export CSV into/out of ToDo and Calendar?

You can email it to ma@essentialpim...
CSV is not the standard for ToDO and Calendar, while iCal is.

Since we are dealing with 3rd party software, not so fast. I received the .ics file and we will look into it when we have time. Most probably the problem is with wrong ics export from another application.

According to standard, TO Do should start with
BEGIN:VTODO
while Calendar events should start with:
BEGIN:VEVENT

In your ics file all events start with
BEGIN:VEVENT

Max, thank you so much for this information. It works very well.

I'm still confused about why csv cannot be imported into the ToDo module. This would be valuable because we would have the ability to map to custom fields. You already provide a csv export option, so why not import too? By the way, I would also include csv import/export with the calendar module.

Thanks again.
