When a word is double clicked it highlights the word, why not copy the word to the computer buffer at the same time it was highlighted?
Then place it at the new location by the next double left mouse click.

This is likely not what users would expect to happen.

Why do we stick with all the old methods?
Can't we make new standards if they work better?
Thanks for your thoughts on this.

Victor:
The cut/paste feature is a OS feature, available in EPIM and thousands of other programs. Enabling EPIM to provide a different function interpretation of a double click conflicts with other programs running at the same time. It is an old method that has proven to be reliable. IMHO

You mean it can't be made to work only in Epim and not effect other programs?DanFelix wrote: Wed Apr 23, 2025 4:04 pm Victor:

Me too, I don´t think you can change a standard which half the world (not literarly) is used to. When I doubleclick a word, I expect it is marked- ONLY, marked. Perhaps it is an important password, which I simply don´t want to have on this place, and I just delet it. But it will wait in memory.......

VictorParkerPIM, the feature could be implemented as an EPIM-specific option, though we should consider:
- User expectations around clipboard behavior (as DanFelix stated)
- Potential data security implications (as a8907433 mentioned)
- Unintended overwriting of clipboard contents
These factors may limit its universal usefulness.

OMG please do not implement this. I could live with copy when doubleclicking but it would be terrible if a doubleclick inserted my clipboard content. Maybe a right click and context menu "paste" could insert.

Re: A quicker way to copy and paste, if it could be implemented.
I know many things have to be considered when changes are made.
Wouldn't it be the same if the word is highlighted with a left double click and right click and select Copy?
If it was auto copied when it was highlighted, then all you would have to do is go where needed and Ctrl+V.
Maybe double clicking is not the right way to paste.
I meant for double clicking to be a one time action.
