Re: Mail preview problem still not solved completely?
If your current settings in EssentialPIM are configured to download headers when checking for new mail, it will only begin downloading the full message bodies when you click on a specific message. The delays could be caused by many different factors such as your internet connection or the mail server itself (e.g., authentication mechanisms). There shouldn't be any noticeable difference in mail body loading speeds between different versions of EPIM.
If you want your email content to be displayed almost instantly, we recommend enabling the setting to download full messages when new mail arrives, instead of just downloading the headers.

Re: Mail preview problem still not solved completely?
understand ... where delays come from, nobody really will be able to tell. Hopefully the full message option will solve this problem.
Honestly ... it was a surprise that this problem came up, at the same time when problems in this field had to be solved by several EPIM-builds. So the presumption was near, that EPIM caused the delays by some sort of changes in programing.

Everything I mention comes out of my experience. I'm not an expert. Feel free to try anything I suggest ... but always at your own risk.

I am running 12.1.3 and this, ongoing, problem continues to persist.
I cannot help but wonder if this will ever be fixed.
I have to exit EPIM and restart it in order to read my email on many occasions.
I notice that it does not happen on messages that are text only and with a dark background.

Re: Mail preview problem still not solved completely?
Display errors (not only in the e-mail module) occurred with the conversion of the Chrome engine and also led to performance losses. Some of the errors have been fixed, but the defects occur again and again. In my opinion, something must have gone wrong somewhere with the integration of the Chrome engine.

Re: Mail preview problem still not solved completely?
norsea and M&M,
I found a solution to some of the email viewing problems in the portable version by renaming WebView2Loader.dll in the epim program folder. If you run portable you may want to play the experiment of renaming that file and see if it helps.
Be advised though that although I have been running this way for months without an issue, EPIM Admin advises against this solution. He (they) haven't said WHY they advise against it, just that they do.

For what it is worth, I have always downloaded email messages; never just the header. Been doing this since I first started using pop3 email way back in the dark ages....

Re: Mail preview problem still not solved completely?
So ... after install of 12.1.3 once again I had the experience that mail preview showed a completely different content of a mail.
So hopefully this was a onetime effect, as I didnot encounter such effects for quite a time now.
What I realised by the last posts in here, is, that all these effects seem to have to do with begin of usage of chrome engine in EPIM, quite a time ago?

All,
"What I realised by the last posts in here, is, that all these effects seem to have to do with begin of usage of chrome engine in EPIM, quite a time ago?"
This is exactly what I've been saying for months. I *still* have to use workarounds.
Otherwise though, EPIM is working quite well for me. The latest versions seem to be showing many less bugs than in the past. Just fix the email viewing problems and it could be perfect!!

Re: Mail preview problem still not solved completely?
I am a bit confused about, "usage of chrome engine in EPIM" statement.
Does this mean that E{IM no longer based on the Mozilla database from Thunderbird?
If yes, the why question comes to mind....

Re: Mail preview problem still not solved completely?
The email rendering engine and database engines aren't related to one another. We're constantly working on making the chromium-based email rendering engine as reliable as possible and we're seeing fewer issues with it. Nevertheless, rest assured that the work continues.

Re: Mail preview problem still not solved completely?
Hello,
the forum keeps discussing the "WebView2Loader.dll". The DLL is present several times on my computer under Windows 11. I have now copied the latest version on my computer (1.0.2651.64) into the program directory of EssentialPIM (12.1.3 - Build 1030) and suddenly the performance of EPIM is "significantly" better (program start, module change, structure of the program interface)!
I just hope that I haven't violated any copyright regulations? Since the WebView2Loader.dll was on my computer, I assume that I am allowed to use it. If you have any other information on this, please let me know.
Please also let me know if my actions have a negative impact on the security and data protection of EPIM.
Many thanks and greetings M&M

Re: Mail preview problem still not solved completely?
When the WebView2Loader.dll file isn't present in EPIM's folder, the rendering engine switches back to the IE one, along with all its drawbacks.

Re: Mail preview problem still not solved completely?
Hello admin,
what disadvantages does the IE engine have for EPIM?
Does the IE engine affect the security or data protection of EPIM?
Is my data at risk due to the IE engine (data loss, ...)
Regards M&M

Re: Mail preview problem still not solved completely?
The IE engine is less secure since it hasn't been updated for a long time and it cannot properly render certain modern rich text emails anymore.
That said, if these limitations don't bother you, you can continue using the IE engine, it will still function.

We've made several adjustments and updates to address mail preview issues. If you're still having trouble, please download and install Build 1032 from https://www.essentialpim.com/download/t ... ull121.exe and see if the situation has improved. Thanks!
