Google cal sync stopped working (turned read-only)
Dear admins,
my google calendar synchronization, which worked perfectly for almost a year, stopped working. More precisely, the most important google calendar named "Petr Šidlof - TUL" under the google account petr.sidlof@tul.cz is now displayed as read-only and the synchronization works only one-way. I.e. new events created in EPIM do not sync into gcal.
I am pretty sure I did not change any settings of that google calendar, nor did I remove the access rights of EPIM to the google account. However, the issue might be related to the fact that about two weeks ago I was forced to change the password to the google account petr.sidlof@tul.cz (which is a work account). Surprisingly, EPIM synchronization did not ask for a new password and I do not know where to change it in EPIM, so this might have caused the trouble.. but there may be another reason.
What should I do to make the sync work again, please? I am slightly afraid to delete and recreate the synchronization, since EPIM help states "deleting synchronization also deletes the corresponding account and all its calendars", and now the calendars are partly unsynchronized (new events created in EPIM during last couple of weeks are not in gcal).
I am sending a screenshot and sync log.
EPIM version: 12.1.1 (updated an hour ago)
Thanks!
Petr

Re: Google cal sync stopped working (turned read-only)
EPIM uses OAuth authorization to enable synchronization with Google services and doesn't rely on the password for the actual account.
If a calendar is marked as read-only in Google, it's not possible to make any changes to it and consequently EPIM cannot add new events to it. Please log in to Google and ensure that the "read-only" attribute is not set for the calendar in question. I hope this helps.

Re: Google cal sync stopped working (turned read-only)
The question is, where to set/unset this "read-only" attribute? In the google calendar settings, I see no option like that:
I definitely do not want to make the calendar available to public (i.e. to everyone in the world).. and up to about two weeks ago, the synchronization worked perfectly even with these options unchcecked.
Thanks!
P.

Re: Google cal sync stopped working (turned read-only)
You don't need to make a calendar public. You're authorized under different accounts. The first screenshot shows that the "My Calendars" list includes about 10 calendars, while your second screenshot of the calendar settings displays only 3 calendars under the "Settings for my calendars" section.
It appears you've granted access to your calendars via a different Google account in EPIM, which explains why the calendar in question is in read-only status for that particular account. I hope this clarifies the situation.

These are not calendars, but categories (in the local calendar of epim). Some years ago, I might have tried to sync these categories of my local calendar with my private google calendar, though. But I think this is not so important now

These are the real google calendars

This might be true - I do not remember precisely what I have done after the password change, but I might have accidentally granted new access through a wrong account (personal account instead of the work account). The question is, how to repair this now? I tried Clear synchronization data i EPIM, did not help. I am still afraid to delete the corrupt synchronization and recreate a new synchronization, since I do not know what would happen to the new events in EPIM (which were not synced to google).
Sorry to bother with this, but could you give me a hint what should I do to have the sync working again?
Thanks!

Re: Google cal sync stopped working (turned read-only)
You can disable Google Calendar synchronization in Tools -> Options -> Synchronization -> Google, then re-enable it by selecting the correct Google account and choosing the desired calendars from the available list. This should resolve the issue. However, please ensure you back up your database beforehand, just to be safe.

Re: Google cal sync stopped working (turned read-only)
This solution did not work - when I reenabled, google synced with the local epim calendar instead of the corrupt gcal. Fortunately I could put back the database backup as you suggested.
However, eventually I found another solution: In the (wrong) google account, I disabled access for EPIM. When I launched synchronization next time, google requested approval for new access for EPIM, and this time I did it correctly. Now everything works fine, I just had to synchronize manually a couple of recurring events with exceptions (this always makes troubles).
To conclude: thanks very much for pointing to the problem, now it is fine!
Best, Petr
