downloaded update EPIM 12.0 won't open

Post by Blastcher Hide »

I was trying to sync EPIM (PC Pro ver 12.06 build 1003) with my NEW Android (Galaxy A12), but couldn't get the phone to recognize EPIM on my PC.
But I DID see a message on my android that "EPIM Pro 12.0 released!" with a button for "Upgrade now", which when clicked downloaded the .exe file to my phone.
Yet when I try to open the downloaded executable (EssentialPIMProNet.exe, 32.81 MB) it opens in ShareIt File Browser, from which it cannot be installed.
Don't know what I am doing wrong here?

To download the .exe file on your phone is quite useless, .exe is only for the Windows desktop PC, here it is V12.06, that is correct. For an Android phone there is 6.017 the newest version, and for Android it is an .apk file.

I agree with a8907433, for your Galaxy A12 you need the APK file from EssentialPIM.
That can be downloaded from the Google playstore

Not very easy to find, but you can also download it from the essentialPIM website. Not from the main page, but from the solutions android page.
https://www.essentialpim.com/solutions/ ... or-android
a direct link on that page is: https://www.essentialpim.com/download/EssentialPIM.apk

"For an Android phone there is 6.017 the newest version" -which is what I do have installed on my android, so thanks for the clarification. I suspected as much, but was led down a side trail by the pop up message I got. The real problem I am having with my new phone is this (and please tell me if I need to open a new thread for this?):

In following the prompts for transferring data from old Galaxy (a21) to new Galaxy (a12) there were two programs that hicupped: WhatsApp (don't really care) and ePim (do care very much!) My contacts module transferred over properly, but the Notes module is blank, the Calendar module did not populate, and the Passwords module is also blank. And for some reason I cannot get it to sync with my PC: it does show (on the android) that it recognizes that I am connected to my house LAN, but it cannot find a Windows version of ePim on my connected PC, tho it IS open and running, so I cannot initiate a sync from my phone to try to bring the missing data over to my phone.

And I was trying to fig if I could somehow open an ePim backup created on PC by my phone ePim, but I suspect that is not real option, so feeling stuck here.

Did you create a new separate sync with your second device in EPIM? For security purposes, each device needs to have its own sync option. Also, backups made with AEPIM are intended for AEPIM only and will not work with WinEPIM.

OK, so I created a new Synchronization (File>Synchronization>Add Synchronization>Android). It found my Galaxy A15, and added a SECOND entry (PC) for "samsung SM-A 156U", which I then chose to 1-way sync (PC to Android), and off it went to syncing, after which, Hellelujah, the Calendar and Passwords modules (formerly blank), appeared on my android, fully transferred, but the NOTES module is still blank. Any suggestions? Should I just delete both the duplicate synch accounts and start over?

Just to complicate things, I just noticed that some of my android ePim files appear to be in my Internal Storage folder and others on my SDcard, i.e:

("This PC >A15 > Internal storage > Android >" & "This PC > A15 > Internal storage > Download ")

and

(" This PC > A15 > SD card > SmartSwitchBackup > 1674258615670 > ETCFILE > EPIMBackup" )

See attached image.

I suspect this might have to do with my having moved some data onto the SD card at the prompt of an app for that purpose.
(https://www.filestosdcard.com ) as spelled out at
https://www.verizon.com/support/knowled ... 4c52db65c4

it SEEMS that these moved files are all BACKUPS but I'm not positive about this, and hopefully did not wack things up in the process!

Seems kind of messy, and hoping someone can suggest a way back to functionality here. I checked today and the Calendar entries had disappeared again.

Please create a new test note in both WinEPIM and Android EPIM, then perform synchronization. Afterward, check if either of the notes synced correctly. If the synchronization fails, please forward us the latest sync log file. You can find it by navigating to Tools -> Options, selecting "Logs Folder," and looking for the file that begins with "Android" in WinEPIM. Additionally, please mention the names of the test notes you created.

Regarding other issues, I recommend reinstalling AEPIM and avoiding the use of third-party apps to transfer the app's data between different types of storage.
