What experiences with EPIMcloud sync???
While I was very enthusiastic about EPIMcloud sync when it was introduced, as THE possibility to automatically sync data between WinEpim and AEPIM I finally did not use it as I experienced quite a few problems. These cost me lots of time to get my data in order again, after every data-inconsistancy, due to a sync problem.
So I would like to get reports of what users get as experiences while using it nowadays?
Thanks.

Re: What experiences with EPIMcloud sync???
I had big expectations about EPIM cloud too. But even in only one direction EPIM > cloud it produced double entries every time, in "contacts", the sorting order is not the same as in EPIM, calendar data worked somtimes, sometimes not..... notes were not synced correctly from cloud to EPIM (Windows tablet), and at last, when I tried to backup my db from EPIM to cloud, it didn´t work once. This is because the way this cloud works, db to big... (500mb). So I gave it up. Just waiting for a big update, making EPIM cloud useable....

This report sounds similar to what I experienced, although in a different sync situation. Hope others will join with reports as to usability. For me it only makes sense to use it, if it runs stable. And only users can tell!

Were you using EPIM only for its own db or were you linking to any other db, like Google? Thanks.a8907433 wrote: Fri Oct 04, 2024 3:00 pm I had big expectations about EPIM cloud too. Re: What experiences with EPIMcloud sync???
I try to use only EPIM, for me EPIM is sufficient and perfect. So I would like to have the same data on PC, mobile and Epim cloud.
At the moment EPIM cloud is for me unusable, I try to substitute this with other clouds (but NOT Google, Apple or MS- I pay with money not with my data), for passwords for example I use pcloud pass, for calendar I use Kalernder Digital and so on...
For my mobile I use an extra version of my db, because the notes are not synced correctly (to big!)- I delete and shorten my notes for the db for the mobile, other modules are synced correct.
So I would like to have a reliable, SECURE cloud, paid with money not with data, that would be perfect. But from this EPIM cloud is still far away....

Re: What experiences with EPIMcloud sync???
Understood. I use your same setup without the cloud but my use schedule permits frequent syncs since I am mostly on the PC wifi network. I will watch this thread for any solutions. Thanks.

Will watch this thread for some more time, to get a clear view of it.
So far reports seem to show that usability has not really developed very far, and thats why it still doesnot seem to make sense to use it. The danger to run into problems is far too great.
Nevertheless the vision behind it still is very promising!!

Re: What experiences with EPIMcloud sync???
There’s no need to monitor the thread, as it only contains general information about inconsistencies. What we really need are the details, along with the log files whenever a synchronization issue occurs. This allows us to step in and make improvements, if necessary, for each specific case.

Re: What experiences with EPIMcloud sync???
One case is known, the cause too: backup to cloud doesn´t work because the structure of the server- it is divided to more than one server and that is the reason a big db ~ 600mb can´t loaded up. I think I told you via email and that was the answer.
So you know at least one reason, but you couldn´t remedy it.

This feature should have been functioning normally for quite some time now. Could you please verify on your end?

Re: What experiences with EPIMcloud sync???
I tried now 2 times: It tried hard, but..... my db is 587Mb and EPIM > EPIM cloud: first time 527Mb, second time 515Mb. So it is much better thanbefore bu´t.... not good enough to backup my file.

@admin
You write "as it only contains general information about inconsistencies".
Thats exactly what this thread is about ... general information!
It doesnot make sense to try to use EPIMcloud sync again, if still there are problems in general, while using it. On my side I have used too many hours to repair data.
What the problems are about in detail, is subject to another thread.
If support team needs details, of course everybody is welcome to deliever details and data in another thread. Another possibility is, that support sets up a running system of WinEPIM/EPIMcloud/AEPIM, in order to repro problems by testing.
As I said before: Such a system is a great thing ... if it really runs stable. And so I tried to get "general information" from users.

Re: What experiences with EPIMcloud sync???
Now I compared backup from EPIM and download to EPIMcloud with up and download at https://my.pcloud.com
EPIM cloud: Backup from EPIM: 587mb > 527mb - download: I had to resume the downlod 20 - 30 times, it allway braks up; finally: ....backup.partial not functional
my.cloud: upload 587mb >download 587mb without any trouble at once in one piece.
Comparable speed at both clouds, but on EPIM cloud there are many terminations and I had to resume it.
So: EPIM cloud is still useless for me, sorry!
I agree with poet-man!

Re: What experiences with EPIMcloud sync???
The backup file of your database will always be a different size compared to the original database. This is completely normal.
