First topic:
I seem to have some difficulties, when trying to sort contacts in contacts-module.
I tell module to sort contacts by surname.
It seems program makes its own rules ...
i.e.
A contact has no surname. So program sorts the contact by firstname. So the contact "Andi" comes right at the beginning of the list and gets a big A in front of contact.
While many contacts seem to be sorted right, suddenly the contact "Elisabeth (firstname) Abt (surname) is sorted by E (at least, it gets a big E in front of it). Strange enough, the contact is displayed somewhere near the end of the list. Moreover sorting seems to work somehow, in so far, as clicking on A in character bar, will jump to the contact, being the first surname with A.
So looking for a contact, where it should be, as to order of alphabet, will not make me find it, where I would expect it to be.
Can anybody presume, what I do wrong?
Second topic:
I would like to have several subcontacts in one maincontact.
I.e. all the contacts belonging to Siemens in the main siemens contact.
How con I do this?
Thx

Could it be that your contacts are in different accounts? Due to EPIM's account-oriented data management, errors occur more frequently because the data records are probably located in different tables (corresponding to the accounts), which are probably not merged correctly during sorting, filtering, evaluation, search ... . Could this possibly be an error in the algorithm of the queries?

Re: Sorting contacts / having subcontacts
No ... I do have one account only. What I found so far, is, that contacts with no surname, do come at the beginning of the list. However why Elisabeth Abt comes just anywhere, I donot know.
Everything I mention comes out of my experience. I'm not an expert. Feel free to try anything I suggest ... but always at your own risk.

Re: Sorting contacts / having subcontacts
poet-man, are you currently using EPIM 11.8.4 or the new 12.0 Beta version? Would you be able to replicate the issue on a new test database?
Thank you!

Re: Sorting contacts / having subcontacts
I use 12 Beta 2.
Before I move on ... how is it meant to be?
I sort by lastname and use layout vertical view (people). Thus all contacts without a lastname get a big letter, as to the firstname there is. And also contacts with both firstname and lastname get a letter corresponding to the firstname.

Re: Sorting contacts / having subcontacts
For future Beta version-related questions, please use the corresponding section in the support forum.
If you sort the contacts by last name in ascending order and some contacts do not have a last name, these contacts will be placed at the front.

Should I use beta forum for any question coming up, when using beta version? In this case I didnot realise the issue is there when using beta version only

Until the Release Candidate (RC) version is available, the Beta forum remains the preferred way for addressing any related inquiries. Thanks!
