clicking on Options freezes EPim

When I click on options - either from the sidebar or from the menu - it makes Epim immediately freeze and I need to kill it via the Taskmanager.


- I completely uninstalled EPim and reinstalled - same problem
- I reinstalled a portable - same problem
- I transferred my database to a different machine to see if it would work there. Everything worked fine.

I make the following observation:
In February I upgraded the license to Lifetime (from previously yearly) and on the same day updated from 11.6.5 to the newest version at that time.
I just noticed that from that day on, EPim stopped making scheduled Database backups. My last automatic backup is from the day I did the update.

Othewise EPim seemed to work fine - since I never noticed anything strange.
I use it offline and the only active modules are Calendar, Tasks and Notes.

Any Idea what I could do to fix this?

Have you tried creating a new, empty database on the machine with the problem? Is the problem here too and does the backup possibly work again?

I just tried it and the result is the same with a newly created database. EPim freezes.

Interesting fact: When it freezes, the usual "this application does not respond" does not come up.
In Taskmanager there is no unusual high CPU usage. CPU usage is changing from 0.5 to 1.5

No. I does not do anything.

The way Epim freezes is a bit unusual. Most times, when a program freezes, it happens that the mouse freezes too and you have to alt+tab out or the cpu load gets extremely high.
None of this is happening. The program just sits there and reacts to nothing. The cursor does not change when it hovers over the program. Just nothing.

Is there a cleaning tool to remove everything from the registry? A few things must be stored somewhere, because I noticed that after installing the portable version I did not have to enter the licensing info again.

What is the version number of your EPIM? You can try searching for the EPIM.INI file, backing it up, deleting it, and then starting EPIM again. This will create a new INI file. Will this solve the problem?

It is working again! I have no idea what exactly caused it... because I did try many things. I can say for sure, that a reboot was necessary. Because it did not work before I rebooted.
I also have no idea why auto Backup was turned off. It was the first thing I checked once options was available again and it was unticked.

Can you tell me where it is located so I can just go and delete it?

Remember to also try a reboot after doing all this. In my case all the changes (reinstalling, deleting the ini, etc.) did not do anything until the reboot.
