Mail Font size Plain text

I use plain text only and EPIM has been working fine for many years. However copying data from PC to laptop and back, I'm now stuck with courier in mail. There is a default mail composing format option but it does not seem to affect Plain text. How do I set plain text to Arial 10 ?

The default mail composing format is only applicable to HTML emails. Plain text emails should always use a monospaced font.

Ok my mistake. When I clicked new email, the font looked different. It wasn't a different font, for some reason the text was smaller. Not sure how to increase the size other than SHIFT Mouse scroll. Can I default it to be bigger ?

Using "Ctrl +" shortcut is also an option.
