Cannot delete a calendar that got market as readonly

Post by northwind »

Hello,

I have added some calendars, and set the readonly checkbox to checked on them.
Now, in Calendar View, if I try to click such a calendar, and bring up the Properties Dialog again, this is not possible.
Always a properties window for some other calendar shows up.
Also, if I try to delete such a calendar using the Context Menu, it will delete some other calendar.
This is dangerous, and caused me to revert to some older version of my Epim database.

How can I delete such a "readonly" calendar? Or how can I set such a calendar to be "writable" / "editable" again?

Thanks a lot!
Uwe

Will you be able to reproduce this? I mean creating a read-only calendar which options wouldn't then be accessible. If so, what would be the steps?

In any case you'd first need to remove the read-only attribute to the calendar before being able to remove it.

I had this problem with a moon phase iCal I imported to EPIM.
Eventually realized I needed to find it via Tools/Subscriptions and was able to delete it there
Worth trying if yours was similar
Thanks

Hello,
first let me thank you for your answers.
Here are the steps to reproduce.
a) to be safe, create a new Epim Database, there will be some default calendar, calendar 1.
b) switch to calendar view
c) create a new calendar (calendar 2)
d) double click on the new calendar in the tree-view to show the properties menu
e) check the checkbox for readonly
NOW the calendar is readonly, and you cant remove the readonly attribute
f) right click on the new calendar (calendar 2) to open context menu
g) choose change color and set a new color
h) color of calendar 1 changes, instead of calendar 2
i) try same with delete operation, calendar 1 will be deleted instead of calendar 2

NOW the way I solved the issue using database tool and direct access to the database.
I installed:
* Firebird-2.5.7.27050_0_Win32.exe
* dbeaver-ce-22.1.5-x86_64-setup.exe

As Epim database is of type firebird, these or similiar tools can be used to change the readonly attribute on the calendar table.
I had to try with different tools, and finally I had success with the tools listed above.

This seems to me like a really bad bug, as people might loose their data, deleting some calendar, and the operation will delete different one calendar, without getting noticed.
Not everybody will do regular backup of epim database:)
But regular backup seems to be necessary, as there are such bugs existing:)

I hope my explanation might be usefull.
Thanks,
Uwe

Thanks, this has already been fixed in the internal builds. So the fix will appear in the next public EPIM version.

Hi!

Version 11.1 still has this bug.

I already have 6 readonly calendars that i cannot delete.

This is synchronizing with my Nextcloud instance and is always re-creating these calendars that are read-only, even if i delete them from the Nextcloud.

I have 2-way sync and synchronize deletions enabled.

Thanks

Hi!

I did this to solve the problem.

Opened the properties of the calendar that i wanted to delete, and even as read-only i could change it to Local Calendars, and here the read-only is off and i could delete the calendar. At the same time i deleted it from the Nextcloud, and since yesterday it's gone.

Thanks
