Appts in multiple calendars

Post by requiredusername »

We have 3 calendars - one in "Default" and two in separate folders.
How about allowing me to do one of two things . . .
1) When creating an event, I select "calendars" and chose one I want. Allow me to select multiple calendars instead of just one.
2) Allow me to create an event in one calendar and drag/drop (COPY) to the other calendars as needed.
The obvious goal is avoiding having to create the event up to 3 times.

1. So you'd like to create the same event in multiple calendars at once? If yes, why would that be needed?
2. You can already do that. Just drag&drop while holding down the Ctrl key on your keyboard.

Nope. Doesn't work.
Example: Create an event in Default Calendar. Hold down CTRL and drag to zzz@epim.com calendar. First, I get the not allowed icon (circle with a slash through it). Drop it any way. Now I the same event twice in Default.
Am I missing something?
BTW, same result when drag/drop from zzz to Default.

You probably do, here's a small video about how it works (calendars are with different colors for better differentiation in between the two):

OK, watched the video.
Let's assume 3 email folders - default, a, and b. I've found, if I D&D an event from A to B, I get 2 identical events under 'a' (week agenda view). I then right-click one of the duplicate events in 'a', select 'edit,'and point it to the 'b' calendar. That works. Is that what the video is describing?

The video shows that there's no 2 events in the same calendar when using drag&drop along with the pressed Ctrl key on the keyboard. Please record a small video demonstrating how it works for you.

It will take a while for me to learn to take/attach a video. Let me try to give steps. If this doesn't work, I'll work on the vid.
Create an event in any of the 3 calendars. For example, I'll use calendar A
Hold down CTRL, left-click mouse and drag to one of the of the calendars - calendar B.
Hovering over calendar B, I see a circle with a line through it
Release left-click
I now have 2 identical events in calendar A
I can right-click either event, select EDIT, change calendar to calendar B, and get an event in both calendars.

It works as shown on the video I attached couple of posts above. Another option for you would be to copy-paste an event, then right click on it and assign the required calendar to it.

Hi Admin,

but it would be really very easy to register an appointment for both my wife and me when setting up the appointment.

Thanks

I've watched the video a few times. The significant difference is, when I drag and drop an event to another calendar, I get a circle with a slash through it when I hover over the other calendar. Don't see that circle/slash in the video.
I've found, if I try to drag and drop, I can drag an event between two calendars and get a blue line between the two calendars. Release the drag and drop and the event disappears.
What do I do to remove the circle/slash. I'm trying to find out how to record/post a video, but that will likely take a while.

I have no idea how to get rid of that icon before watching a video. You may wish to check this out on a new database with couple of local calendars.

Hi,

If, for example, it is a Google calendar, you must switch to the sub-calendar. There you can drop the appointment.

OK, I think I figured it out. EPIM doesn't seem to like drag and drop when I have more than one calendar checked. If I have fred@gmail.com AND wilma@gmail.com checked, EPIM refuses to D&D. If I uncheck wilma, I can D&D perfectly . . . almost.
EPIM also seems to dislike having a category selected. Thus, have only one calendar checked AND no Category selected and EPIM allow D&D from the checked calendar.
I'll try some more to confirm, but, for now, D&D works under the conditions above.
