V10 DB long-time 34.08 MB; ..... V11 64.32MB
V10 backups 15-16 MB; V11 40-27 MB
The test.epim DB resides in EPIM default SSD C:\ -- and 8 max Bkups are targeted to HDD -- D:\EssentialPIM Pro -- Folder I made.
An app routinely Copies C:\ latest DB, Logs, INI -- to D Folder.
If before I installed 11.0.1 I put the V10 DB and 8 Bkups in a Temp Folder Within the Same C:\ EPIM Folder - Or D Folder - or Both - Can't recall .... is there any way the V11 Install app would see and -- Be Affected By-- having 2 DBs in the same Folder, Although the 2nd DB is in a Sub-Folder.
I can't See or think of any Mail Accts differences that would nearly Double my DB by the Version Update.

I also have this problem.... but ist seems, we are the only two. They can not reproduce this So, this is dependent on our individual database.
Re: Did I Cause DB to Nearly Double w-V11
Looking at my backups for the day I switched over all my databases stayed roughly the same size from v10 -> v11
v10 -> v11
35 -> 35mb
135 -> 136mb
599 -> 598mb
5.6 -> 5.6GB
One database went down a MB one went up a MB.
I'd suggested using the synchronizer tool and seeing what size it becomes after syncing to a new database. I've had a couple of times in the past where deleted junk got stuck in the database and doing that fixed the inflation issue.

Re: Did I Cause DB to Nearly Double w-V11
I DID use the synchronizer..... but after that ist was without encryption. After encrypting db ist increased in size from 450Mb to 1100Mb.I'd suggested using the synchronizer tool and seeing what size it becomes after syncing to a new database. I've had a couple of times in the past where deleted junk got stuck in the database and doing that fixed the inflation issue.
This db-size problem first occured with the 8 or 9 versions.
But with the new version 11.02 it is solved it seems. I took my old db from v10, opened it in v11.02 and the size is ok. Everytime this happens with a new version, I keep my old db up to date, I work with the old and teh new db- until db size shrinks (new version) or keeps the same (old version).
It is really a mistery, I can not tell when and why this happens.
Only solution would be, to send the db to Astonsoft, but the thousands of private data.........

Thanks for your Reply. I've used the Synchronizer once and will have to remember How.a8907433 wrote: ↑Sun Jul 24, 2022 6:19 pmBut with the new version 11.02 it is solved it seems. Can you confirm the following: File/Open and I Browse to my last V10 DB that was 34 MB.
2 IMAP Accts (& Gmail ?) will Update what's currently in my Folders?
So you (for a period of time) bounce back between File/Open Browse to the latest V11 DB, and then back to the Saved V10 to update its Folders - Until New Shrinks or --- "keeps the same (old version)"....WHAT does "keep the same" mean?
Many Thanks !!

Re: Did I Cause DB to Nearly Double w-V11
I use POP3, not IMAP. And I keep only a few, important emails, without big attachements. So, when I have a db from a week ago and a db from today, they will distinguish from one another in only some kb in size. My db is approx. 430Mb, so in comparison to double in size from 430Mb to more than 1000Mb, I called the actual db (a few kb bigger) "keeping the same" (in size).

Re: Did I Cause DB to Nearly Double w-V11
@admin ... anyone.... It will never be clear to me ref Opening the -- Same DB BUT with different dates -- and WHAT happens with IMAP Mail Accts when you Open the DB FROM an Earlier date.
Does ALL activity between earlier date & Now get Wiped from existence by the earlier DB date opening -- OR does IMAP re-populate it up to Today's Folders data?
MUST I Sync Today's DB with All desired Folders -- to a 2nd DB -- for Safety, and then File/Open & experiment with the last DB that had a 34 MB Size Vs 64 MB today?
I can live with Dbl Size DB (space not an issue - just feels like I've got a "potentially" Problem DB) ) BUT would like to experiment in getting the Smaller Size Back IF there's a Safe Way to do it.
Thanks for any clarification.

Re: Did I Cause DB to Nearly Double w-V11
All your IMAP accounts will be synchronized with the mail servers and brought up to date. In other words, same as if you didn't check your mail for couple of days and then decided to do that.
Hope that explains things. Thanks!

Re: Did I Cause DB to Nearly Double w-V11
My DB is back to 34.8 MB Vs 64 -- and backup is 16 MB vs 27...
Problems are the only way I learn this stuff; After Opening the earlier DB sitting in another Folder, I looked at the DB's normal C:\ Folder and nothing had changed. Amateur's App logic trips all over itself.
I then remembered to Re-name the large DB in C:\ to -- .old -- and re-locate the smaller -- test.epim -- I had just opened over to the C:\ default folder.
All seems well. Thanks for the Replies.
