What does EPIM do when you optimize?
Previously, the EPIM db was significantly reduced in size at each optimization.
Now there is no reduction at all - it only increases in size.

Re: optimization...
I hope so..... I can´t backup to my USB-flash drive anymore, because of size....

Re: optimization...
Check out the newly released 10.1.2 version out and let us know. Thanks!

Admin,
THANK YOU!!!!!
I've tried optimizing and deleting emails several times in the past few months but the database just grew and grew. I updated to 10.1.2 and just optimized and the database size reduced by 71%.
Excellent. Thanks again for fixing that.

Re: optimization... version 10.1.2
deleting and optimization at least every other day - the epim db grows from 55mb to 121mb to 197mb to 210mb, then suddenly after about 14 days it drops. Only to start the growth cycle again.
What is happening , (or not?) when you "optimize"?

Re: optimization...
I'd suggest you to Google something like "database optimization" to get a rough idea about what's happening during the process. Trying to describe everything here would take no less than couple of pages of text.

Re: optimization...
Admin, I see your point, we are no programmers, just users. My db was doubling each time a new 10.x version came but with 10.1.2 it shrinked to original size. Then again, it grew..... but only about the size of the incoming mails. And, after deleting it, it will not shrink. Only every time I get an error on opening the db- when I try to optimize before EPIM is ready- than it will shrink to the correct size (This way I try to force EPIM to shrink db). But, I will not complain...... You are the professionals, so you will be right.
BUT what I NOT understand is: This worked for MANY YEARS NOW- optimizing shrinked the db in versions from 3.x to 9.?? reliably.... and NOW it don´t! I would be satisfied, if you say, this is for technical reasons... but when this behaviour changes- why?

Re: optimization...
The underlying principles are still the same, nothing has really changed since the 3.x version. If you think otherwise, we need proofs (I've already asked you about that couple of times). So without the proof this conversation will once again lead us nowhere. Please keep this in mind.

Re: optimization...
I am not among those having problems with this. However a while ago I experienced issues when using optimization which I was able to isolate.
My question to those who continue to have difficulty - are you using a service such as OneDrive? If so, pause synchronization, optimize your database and then resume synchronizing.
