Option to limit select note combined word count to 1st leafs

I just noticed that when you select a bunch of notes in the tree you get the word count for all of them combined, this is awesome, however it would also be great if there was an option or way to only see the combined word count for the 1st leaf of each note.

Reason:
I write articles in leaf 1 and editorial notes in leaf 2, then in leaf 3 and beyond I keep major revision changes.

Since this is kind of special, perhaps it could be in the popup window that comes up when you left click:
