Bug: calendar event, 'read only' cannot be unchecked
Hi, newest EPIM Biz, Win 8.1 and 10 x64,
Some events taken from Google Calendar during sync, like feastdays, cannot be deleted.
If I press Delete on them, I get the message:
please disable Read-only mode using Edit menu.
So I press Edit, and here is what I get:
No chances to uncheck 'read-only'.
However, let me underline, few years ago it worked nicely. There was nothing like 'event which cannot be deleted'.
One of the dozens of the problems which popped up during upgrades.

I found the workaround. ))
Open like the above, and just press OK.
The color of the event should change to white.
Then this is fully edible, with no need to uncheck.

Since 8.5 the workaround does not work anymore.
Events, like feastdays, holidays, cannot be deleted.

Re: Bug: calendar event, 'read only' cannot be unchecked
It might have been a clue: this public events are synced previously with Google Calendar, both ways. So now, even if there is again only one-way sync EPIM-Google, they can't be deleted.
Also, I will have another clue soon, after Mother's Day.
Maybe they can be deleted AFTER they are tiggered. If so, then, anyway, it used to work other way in the past in EPIM. Any events could be deleted any time.

Same problem. Event synced from Google cannot be edited. Will this be addressed? Need to remove the event.

The Appointments mentioned above come from Read-only Google calendars, thus they are not editable. You can remove those calendars from Google synchronization, synchronize and the appointments will dissapear.
There are some issues mentioned above, we will be fixing them.

Tried removing the calendars from Google. They no longer appear in Google, but the locked in event still shows in EPIM after syncing.

They should dissapear, if you are using 2-way sync and "Synchronize deletions" is allowed.BobMike wrote: Fri May 17, 2019 1:04 am Tried removing the calendars from Google. They no longer appear in Google, but the locked in event still shows in EPIM after syncing.

Re: Bug: calendar event, 'read only' cannot be unchecked
Max, thanks, but couldn't you go back to the previous, as above, workaround?
Now it does not work, and I can't do two-way sync with Google because we will loose data, as it happens. Just do not have time to report it.
So the above workaround (open, close, it's removable) would really do the job.

Hello,
the situation where "open-close" worked was a bug. We would rather fix any issues with normal behaviour, if those issues exist.

Re: Bug: calendar event, 'read only' cannot be unchecked
I tried to delete on Google side certain public days off, no such option there.
Turning off the calendar with public days also does not help. They are not visible in Google anymore, but after 2-way sync still in EPIM.
Also, as the next repeated bug appears with 2-way sync with Google (changing the time of appointments), I am turning off 2-way sync, as this is pretty much troublesome.
Now there is no possibility to remove certain events from the calendar in EPIM.

Re: Bug: calendar event, 'read only' cannot be unchecked
Still having the problem. Contact calendar in Google Calendar cannot be deleted and it is creating duplicate entries in EPIM. Tried to remove the specific entries in Google but cannot. Deleted the specific contacts in the Google contact app, no help there. set up 2-way sync to temporarily try to fix this but is does not work. There should be a way to delete these read only items without messing around in Google Calendar. Google has no help available for this in either the standard help menu or in support forums.

Surely, but so far neither solution works, so at least it could work around like a couple of months ago.

Re: Bug: calendar event, 'read only' cannot be unchecked
If you wouldn't want to synchronize events from certain calendars, please click on Tools->Options->Synchronization->Google and click on the Select Calendars button to exclude the desired calendars. After that perform synchronization and the events from these calendars should disappear from EPIM. Thanks!
